Mrs. Sheppard's love of Science and Social Studies is evident when she teaches. She brings lessons to life using a variety of resources. She runs a very structured classroom where students understand the expectations and step up to meet them. She understands student data and modifies for students as needed. We sure appreciate Mrs. Sheppard and the pride that she takes in her job as an educator everyday! #FortheBrownandWhite

For enrichment this quarter, Mrs. M. Williams homeroom enjoyed working with Mrs. Snipes for Art. In this class, they learn various art methods and styles and get to create some pretty impressive pieces. This week, they worked to create their own fused bead designs. They showcased some very unique and creative designs and you can see how proud they are of their work. Art is always one of the student's favorite enrichment classes because Mrs. Snipes is always coming up with the most wonderful projects for the kids to learn. No matter the class, our teachers and students always show what it looks like to be FOR The Brown & White!

The 6th grade science classes of Mrs. M. Williams, Mrs. Copeland, and Mrs. Cloud used Starburst candy to learn how rocks go through the different stages of the rock cycle. They used the candy to create the sediment and sedimentary rock. They applied heat and pressure through friction using their hands to create metamorphic rock then melted their rock on a hot plate to create igneous rock. At the end, they were able to eat and enjoy their creations. Using hands on representations helps the students have visual concrete examples of geologic processes that happen underground. Following this, they completed their end of unit assessment and did amazing! We are always trying new ways to make learning fun! It's what we do being FOR The Brown & White!

She teaches 4th grade Science and Social Studies. She is new to ECIS this year and we are so glad she decided to join our team. Mrs. League is energetic, fun, and creative. The classes that see Mrs. Pollard are reading "Summer of the Monkeys" by Wilson Rawls. Today, students got creative as they explored the novel’s main characters and created character trait posters to showcase their understanding. It was a fun way to bring the characters to life while thinking deeply about their personalities, actions, and roles in the story!
