Seniors in Mrs. Thompson's English 4 class completed a week long study on some challenging vocabulary, culminating in performances of the lyrics they wrote featuring the words. We've always known we have some real talent in the class of 2024! Who knew that included future rappers?!

We are aware of the rumor going around about a potential threat to the pep assembly this afternoon. At this time we have no credible information regarding this rumor, but we have notified law enforcement as a precaution. Elk City High School administration will continue to monitor the situation and will look into any reports made.

Elk City High School was on lockdown for a brief period of time today. The lockdown was initiated due to a report of a gun on campus. School Resources Officers, administrators and the Elk City Police Department acted quickly to ensure the safety and well being of all students and staff.
Additional law enforcement will remain on site for the remainder of the day as a preautionary measure to instill a sense of safety and securty for students and staff.
5th hour classes will resume at 12:09 as usual.

Students in Mr. Dalton Cooper's Forensic Science class are in the middle of a week long fetal pig autopsy study. After learning the terms and anatomy and researching this week, students are now working to determine the causes of death of the pigs.

The ECHS AP Government class put on our annual Veteran's Day program this morning. Our thanks to Ms. Mosqueda's class, our Chamber Choir and senior Hayden Laufer, who played Taps.

ELKS Academy students ventured to Oklahoma City today for a Capitol Arts Tour funded by a grant awared to the program through the Oklahoma Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts. Students enjoyed seeing the beautiful architecture of the state capitol building and an abundance of amazing artwork. They also learned many interesting facts about the governmental system in Oklahoma and visited the floor of both the Senate and House.

Congratulations to Big Elk Cross Country senior Jack Morgan on his 7th place finish today at state! The top 10 runners receive the all-state honor, and this is Morgan's 2nd year in a row to place in the top 10! The team placed 17th, and many of them had their best times today. Way to go, Elks!

The ECHS Special Olympics team competed in bowling today in Mustang and had a great time! We're proud of these students, their sponsors and buddies! Great to be in "the Brown and White!"






PreACT for Sophomores is next Wednesday, October 25th, starting at 8:00am. The PreACT gives students an opportunity to practice for the ACT.

Our PLC teams hit the ground running on this first day of quarter 2 by discussing takeaways and patterns they observed in student assessment data last Wednesday during our Data Day.
