Attention Big Elk Football fans traveling to Childress, Texas tomorrow evening; The town of Childress is currently under a boil alert for their city water, and it may extend beyond tomorrow. Restrooms will be usable at the stadium, but you will not be able to wash your hands. Be prepared for limited places to eat, and you might take bottled water with you to drink if needed. The air conditioning is back on. Students will not be bussed to the Susan Powell. All students will remain at their site.
Elk City Public Schools will begin an early release at 2:15 for the Elementary and High School sites. Both sites will be without air conditioning due to a power surge. The power surge has also taken down our phone lines. The Middle School and intermediate both have air conditioning. Students may be picked up early at all sites. Any Elementary student that cannot be picked up early will be bussed to the Susan Powell Auditorium beginning at 3:00 pm.The Susan Powell Auditorium is air conditioned. Parents will pick up there after 3:00 pm. Elementary students only. Regular bus riders will go home as usual. No students will be left unattended or in hot classrooms. Phone lines are down across the district.
This Friday, Aug. 21st our EC Varsity & 9/JV football teams will be scrimmaging in El Reno. The 9/JV will start at 5:00 pm on the practice field south of the stadium. Then the Varsity will start at 7:00 pm on the game field. Thanks for your cooperation.
Attention Big Elk Football Fans: Reserve seating is now available 2026 football season, please ask for Deb at the Elk City Board Office when you call. Past reserve seating ticket holders will have until next Wednesday, Aug. 26th till 4:00 pm to keep their reserve seats. After that we will open the remaining seats to the public. Attention ECHS & MS athletes; All 7th, 9th, 11th, and any new student athletes in our district. Tuesday, Aug. 4th will be SWAY concussion testing in the ECHS Pioneer Gym from 10 am - 12:00.
